Mike has been performing improv comedy since he was fifteen years old. He performs with the Crazy Monkeys and the hobo themed long form group Tom Foolery. Back when Mike started improv his dream was to own a bakery in a renovated fire station and live upstairs where he could slide down to work on a fire pole. His dreams have changed slightly since then. Today Mike aspires to be the best high school English teacher in the history of the world ever, a mildly successful webcomic creator, a mediocre dancer, a tennis star, a famous blogger, and a wonderful chef.
Gen has a sweet apartment and life in Chicago. They're both better than your life and apartment, respectively.
Each of the Crazy Monkeys has his or her “thing,” that quality that immediately sets him or her apart from the rest of the group and marks him or her as an individual. Some are taller than average, others have unique facial hair, and still others are really pretty. Joe, on the other hand, is brown. He serves as the group’s token minority, his presence a blank check for the Monkeys to joke (good-heartedly, of course) about various ethnic peoples, including Dominicans, Spaniards, Arabs, Indians, Italians, Greeks, Filipinos, Native Americans, North Africans, Hasidic Jews, and any of the numerous other races Joe is daily and mistakenly assigned. The sheer startling variety comes from what Joe alternately calls “ethnic ambiguity” and “my superpower.” Of course, you might find yourself wondering, “But, like, what is he, really?” The truth, you see, is that there are less ignorant ways of asking that question, and maybe you should find one. But Joe isn’t just brown. When he’s not busy producing more melanin than the other Monkeys, Joe enjoys studying the pharmaceutical sciences (in a strictly professional setting), unrepentantly stalking Facebook, looking nice, making friends, and having adventures.
So here's the skinny (or the slightly larger than average) on Tim Franklin. Tim has been in the Crazy Monkeys since his sophomore year of college, when he tried out at the urgings of Mike Dodaro. He is currently in his last semester with the Monkeys before he graduates and gets a real job in the teaching business. (Enroll your children in his junior high, and they can do improvs with him.) Some things Tim enjoys doing in his free time (when he's not doing maths) are blogging and drawing comics, though in recent times he has been doing more of the former. A few of his proudest moments include that time when he chugged all that mustard, that time he put the UPC for a ghost shrimp on a Pleco at Walmart and only paid $0.26 for a $5 fish, and that time he got up the nerve to propose to his girlfriend, Mary, after about 5 hours of sitting on a concrete bench staring at her. His favorite movie is The Life Aquatic, and his favorite band changes from ZOX to Ra Ra Riot to the Hush Sound to Gnarls Barkley, depending on the mood he's in.
I don't like driving cars because bicycles are superior! I wear the same pair of pants, usually with the right pant leg cuffed up, and the same sweater everyday in the winter. Don't be freaked out, the clothes you can't see are all fresh.
In my personal time I am typically making neat things with the help of my computer, Mac Johnson. PS: I like to make up names for all of my stuff, my bicycle's name is Eddipithyro. Some things that interest me, besides bicycles and graphics, are flying kites, climbing trees, making really good sandwiches, watching the movie Hook, and hanging out at coffee shops.
The name? Lauren Kohl. I'm from a somewhat small-town, located in Bradley, Illinois. Basically, I'm an hour and a half from anything interesting. Our claim to fame? We host the Chicago Bears Summer camp every July. This is a mega plus for me since I'm a huge fan! Enough about my town, let's hear some more about myself.
I'm 5'8" I've always been an outgoing person, and I'm not afraid to make a fool of myself for a good laugh. I've always felt that being able to laugh at yourself is one of the best things you can achieve. I try to live life to the fullest, and I don't let anything get in my way. My friends are my life, and I don't know where I'd be without them. I'm obsessed with picture taking; it's something I really need to get help for! I love listening to music and going to concerts. I like dancing also, even though I have no rhythm. Among these fabulous traits, I'm also extremely sarcastic, kind of loud, a bit awkward, and completely random. But I love to meet new people, and experience new and exciting adventures. I absolutely love movies, and one of my favorites is Ferris Bueller's Day Off, so I'll leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
"Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around every once in a while, you might miss it."-Ferris Bueller.
Being a relatively new member of the Monkeys, Logan always seems to be in a controlled state of confusion. Luckily for him, not actually knowing what is going on and just making stuff up as he goes, is actually an ancient improv art form. An art form that he has down well enough that we have suspicions that he was trained in it by some strange monastery in a place like Tibet or South Dakota. Logan loves to talk to strangers, just ask him. The answer will probably come in the form of an afternoon of fun and lifelong companionship. Now that’s charisma. A self proclaimed fan of a good time, Logan can always be found on a weekend night at either a “Crazy” party or fleeing from the law. If you do happen to see him escaping through your neighborhood, do yourself a favor and harbor him. He will be great fun and even help around the house. Just hide your daughters!
Shauvon McGill has an innate ability to manipulate computers and technology. He discovered this talent early in his life, and since then he has become a jack of all trades with computer technology. Shauvon is an award-winning independent filmmaker, a graphic designer, a successful freelance photographer, a musician, a writer, an actor, a comedian, a 2d and 3d artist, an IT specialist, a computer programmer, and an extremely prolific Web developer. Shauvon has entertained thousands of people, performed live for massive sold-out venues, pioneered new projects, led teams of colleagues to success, and he is only 22 years old. He is one semester away from a bachelor’s degree in computer graphics technology. When he graduates, he will be leading the cutting edge, working with technologies that haven’t yet been invented in fields that haven’t yet been named.
Shauvon has been in the Monkeys for three years, and in that time has single-handedly led the Monkeys into the 21st century with the Monkeys' first real website (you're looking at it), totally kick-ass fliers, and a brand new logo.
Shauvon believes that Ed Banger Records is the ultimate achievement of human evolution, and we will never produce anything that awesome again.
Sarah Mueller is a senior at Purdue majoring in acting and political science. Her improv journey has led her from Indianapolis to Chicago to West Lafayette and back. She hopes to make improv a permanent part of her life. As in, she wants to bum around and act silly and be with her friends and make people laugh instead of doing work. You can find her later in life living in a box. Thanks for understanding.
Andrew Preston had a mission and he failed that mission!
Kelsey is "uber" excited to be a member of The Crazy Monkeys!! Hopefully she will not make a fool of herself! Oh wait, she already does that everyday! In her spare time Kelsey likes to read, watch movies, and of course, do improv comedy. When Kelsey grows up she wants to be an archaeologist just like her hero Indiana Jones. Some of Kelsey's favorite foods include pasta, taco bell, and Yats. Little known fact; Kelsey has a birthmark on her left knee that looks like a heart, if you squint. If Kelsey could have any job in the world it would either be an ice-cream tester or the person that fills the seats at award shows when celebrities go potty.
